The National Gender Policy, revised in 2010, includes the principal guidelines that national policies and programmes have to consider, when they integrate gender issues in their social, cultural, economic and political planning and programming. Concerning measures to address gender-based violence, Gender National Policy mandates that ‘;'adequate measures for effective prevention of and response to gender-based violence are undertaken" (sub-programme 4.5.2.5, in programme 4.5 on Governance and Justice). The revised National Gender Policy and its strategic plan for implementation were approved by cabinet on 03^rd September 2010.
